Chilling Discovery: Woman’s Body Left on Front Doorstep

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Residents of Hamilton Street woke up to a chilling scene early Thursday morning: the lifeless body of a woman sprawled across the front steps of a brownstone, draped in a deep red cloak.

Police have not released her name, but neighbors say she lived in the area and leaves behind a husband and a young son.

Investigators confirmed that a precise crescent-shaped incision had been carved into her chest. The wound, they say, appears “deliberate” and “methodical.”

Neighbors told The Hudson Bulletin they heard three slow, heavy knocks on the door around 2:00 a.m., followed by the sound of footsteps retreating into the night. When the homeowner opened the door moments later, the woman’s body was already there.

One law enforcement source described the scene as “staged,” noting the positioning of the body and the condition of the clothing.

This marks the fifth unexplained death in the region this year involving unusual markings and symbolic placement of victims. While authorities have not confirmed a connection between the cases, detectives from multiple counties are now sharing information.

Anyone with knowledge of the case is urged to contact the Jersey City Police Department’s tip line immediately.
